Tja is the music project of Mattia.
It grows from nearly connection with music, experienced as a place of expression and inner exploration. A childhood spent in Rivarossa, a small town outside Turin, Italy, marked by quietness and limited stimuli, leaving room for an introspective relationship with sound.
The musical path begins with the study of the drum, providing a rhythmic foundation, and gradually expands to piano, and to the guitar through self-directed learning, approached one string at a time. Over time, the voice becomes the central element of expression, the place where the connection feels most direct and physical.
Around his early twenties, series of unplanned journeys, undertaken with little more than a backpack and no fixed destination, deeply influence both his personal and artistic direction. These experiences do not mark a turning point in terms of style, but rather introduce a clearer sense of intention and openness that continues to shape the project.
In 2018, after returning to Italy, Tja officially launches the project with the release of My Fatherʼs Guitar, produced at Password Studio in Turin. From that point, Tja becomes the framework through which his music is shared: an invitation to attentive listening and inner reflection. Over the years, the project leads to performances across Europe encounters with different audiences, and extensive experience in street performance, where context and outcome are never fixed.
The songs released so far, produced between Turin and Milan in collaboration with various producers, reflect a period of broad sonic exploration. Acoustic elements coexist with electronic textures as part of an ongoing search.
Since 2023, traveling has become an explicit part of the project. Touring by van across Italy, Europe and the UK, Tja performs in clubs, festivals and public spaces, allowing movement itself to inform the music. Listeners often associate his songs with the idea of travel, music suited to long drives and in-between moments, suggesting stylistic dimension that has naturally become central to the project.
